About Us

who are we

StarBaths is devoted entirely to outdoor bathing. Designed and built in Raglan, New Zealand, our baths bring a familiar ritual outside. Into gardens, courtyards and quiet places under open skies.

We belive in building things properly. Star Baths are made to live outdoors and withstand the seasons. Insulated, enclosed and built with strength in mind.

Strength and durability is only half the story. Star baths are designed to be beautiful too. At home in the landscape, whether subtle or bold.

A family ritual, reimagined

In Ange's family, outdoor bathing was a way of life. Warm water. Open air. The night sky overhead. Baths heated by fire, a labour of love built and tended by her dad.

Ange and Anthony often spoke about what this ritual could become. A modern interpretation of an ancient practice. The ease of an indoor bath, under the sky.

For a long time, it remained imagined.

From Vision to Reality

Then Anthony was diagnosed with two cancers, one Stage 4, and given one year to live. Life became small, measured in treatments, appointments, uncertainty, and waiting.

Yet they felt an urgency to bring Star Baths to life. Something precious to make together. A reprieve from illness and pain. To leave something meaningful. A legacy in Anthony's name.

Ange shaped the vision and direction. Anthony brought the precision craftsmanship and skill. Together, they brought Star Baths to life.

The Ritual as Refuge

Throughout treatment and recovery, having baths remained central. Warm water eased the body. Being outside softened the mind. Time under the stars offered moments of calm together when little else could.

The Recovery & Release

Today, thanks to modern medicine, and many many baths, Anthony is cancer-free. One in a million. Like a star in the night sky.

After a fraught yet formative time, Ange and Anthony release Star Baths into the wild.

Treatment and care continues, but so does life. We are healthy, joyful and so glad to be here to share this with you.

Craftsmanship

Handcrafted in Raglan

From their large workshop in Raglan, Ange, Anthony and the team now create Star Baths for others to enjoy.

Raglan is a coastal New Zealand town, known for its surf and shaped by a quiet design culture and a life lived outdoors, year-round.

Nothing is rushed. No offshore manufacturing. No shortcuts, just careful work, built to last.

OUR APPROACH

How we work

Three principles guide everything we make:

Simplicity, not complexity

No jets. No filters. No apps or interfaces. A Star Bath works like your indoor bath; fill from the tap, soak, drain. The ritual doesn't need to be complicated.

Built to Last, Not Replace

Sustainability isn't just about materials, it's about longevity. We build once, and build well. Every bath is modular, repairable and made for decades of use. Fewer replacements. Less waste. Lasting beauty that honors the planet.

Handcrafted, Not Mass-Produced

Each bath is made to order in our Raglan workshop. We use sustainably sourced materials wherever possible; FSC-certified timber, ethical New Zealand wool, marine-grade components. Nothing is rushed. Every bath is individual.
